HEIC to PDF – Frequently Asked Questions

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhones running iOS 11 and later. Apple switched to HEIC because it stores photos at roughly half the file size of JPEG with the same or better quality. However, HEIC files have limited compatibility — Windows, older Android devices, and most web services do not support them natively.

Convert HEIC to PDF Online Free — No Software Install

iPhone photos are saved as HEIC files by default — but most Windows PCs, Android devices, and web services cannot open them. Converting HEIC to PDF is the easiest solution: PDFs open everywhere, in every browser, on every device, without any software install.

Our HEIC to PDF converter handles the decoding in your browser — no app to download, no account to create. Upload your iPhone photos, choose a page size, and download the PDF in seconds.

Why Does iPhone Use HEIC Instead of JPEG?

Apple adopted HEIC as the default photo format in iOS 11 because it stores photos at roughly half the file size of JPEG with the same or better visual quality. A 4MB JPEG photo typically takes just 2MB as HEIC. For iPhones with 12–48MP cameras, this space saving is significant — it doubles the number of photos you can store. The tradeoff is compatibility: HEIC is not yet supported everywhere JPEG is. Converting to PDF (or JPEG) solves this instantly.
